Two held in mall robbery

EDISON — Police arrested two suspects in a robbery incident at the Menlo Park Mall.

Kasan Warren, 20, and Belinda Carroll, 22, both of Edison, were charged with robbery and held at Middlesex County Adult Correction Center in North Brunswick on $25,000 bail each, Patrolman Robert Dudash said.

The victims, a 16-year-old Edison male and a 19-year-old Avenel female, told police they were walking on the upper deck of the mall near the movie theater around 10:50 p.m. Aug. 26 when they were approached by three males and one female.

The victims told police they were asked for cigarettes and money and replied that they had none.

The female victim then said the female suspect approached and punched her in the nose and tried to take her purse, Dudash said.

At the same time, one of the males demanded the male victim’s gold chain, which he turned over, police said.

The four suspects fled in a four-door silver-colored vehicle, which responding officers observed on Oakwood Avenue, Dudash said.

The officers followed the vehicle to a Koster Boulevard apartment complex and detained the four while the victims were brought to the scene for identification purposes, Dudash said.

The female victim sustained a bloody nose, but refused medical treatment at the scene and the male was not hurt, Dudash said.
