Y gears up for memorial 5K run slated for June 4

The Metuchen Branch YMCA is sponsoring the Janice Garbolino Memorial 5K Classic June 4 at Roosevelt Park in Edison. The run will begin and end by the lake at Lakeview School. Walkers are welcome. There will be a DJ, refreshments, baby-sitting and a lollipop run for kids. T-shirts will be given to all 5K participants who preregistered by May 20, and to late entrants while supplies last. Cost is $15 for those ages 13 and older who are registered by June 3, and $20 for those registered by June 4. Cost for children ages 12 and under is $5 regardless of registration date. H.S. revs up for Classic Car/Motorcycle Show

The J.P. Stevens High School Band Parents Association has announced that the sixth annual Classic Car & Motorcycle Show, along with a flea market, swap meet and craft fair, will be held from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on June 5 at the high school, 855 Grove Ave., Edison. Rain date is June 12. Professional judging will be done by the Edison Light Cruisers, and more than 100 trophies will be awarded. DJ “Jukebox Jimmy” will provide the music. There will be games, food, a tricky tray and a “pinewood derby” race. Admission is $2 per person, with proceeds to benefit the high school band program, which serves hundreds of teens in the community. ‘The Scarlet Pimpernel’

to be staged June 10-18

The Sayreville Main Street Theatre Company will present its production of the musical “The Scarlet Pimpernel” at 8 p.m. on June 10, 11, 17 and 18 and at 3 p.m. on June 12 in the company’s new theater, located in the Garden Friends Learning Center, 3018 Bordentown Road, Parlin section of Sayreville.

Advance tickets cost $18 for adults, $16 for seniors and students. An additional $2 will be charged for tickets purchased at the door. Prices include dessert and beverage.

Metuchen Rotary Club slates Bowl-A-Thon
