Sales tax hike not a cost-cutter

I would like to express my displeasure with Gov. Corzine's sales tax increase which will be voted on shortly in our state legislature. I strongly urge our legislators to vote against this tax increase, which effects all citizens.

Why not try (1) reducing the size of government. As we know the state has hired over 500 new employees during the past four years. Try reducing the number of state employees instead of increasing their number. (2) Try reducing state cost by doing away with dual office holding, reducing pensions and health benefits which are way out of line with the private sector. (3) Get the educational cost for the Abbot districts under control. (4) Introduce ethics into the legislature by vigorously prosecuting those accepting bribes from those doing business with the state. (5) Enforce pay-to-play legislation now on the books instead of trying to find ways around it. (6) Prosecute those responsible for corruption in the huge cost overruns in the School Construction Corp.

I hope our legislators will listen to the voice of their citizens.
