Township man charged with hitting officer

EDISON - Police recently arrested a local man and, charged him with aggravated assault on a police officer and resisting arrest.

Loris Siano, 53, of Edison, was arrested after a Nov. 2 incident that took place at a Dunkin' Donuts on 1790 Route 27 at 4:40 p.m.

"Siano was in the restaurant, causing a disturbance," said Lt. Joseph Shannon. "The female employee of the Dunkin' Donuts asked him to leave because he was causing a scene. He then basically chased the employee around the counter and outside the restaurant."

Another employee called police. Detective Adam Tietchen, who was in plainclothes, was first on the scene. He identified himself as a police officer and the female employee pointed out Siano, Shannon said.

Tietchen then asked Siano to step outside to talk about what happened, police said.

"At that point, Siano then assaulted Tietchen by pushing him and grabbing him by the chest," Shannon said. "They scuffled in and out of the restaurant and fell to the ground outside."

Tietchen called for backup. It took three officers to eventually subdue Siano and handcuff him.

Tietchen suffered minor injuries to his face, police said.
