Gas attendant dragged by car, injured
EDISON - A Route 1 Shell gas station attendant suffered serious head injuries after being dragged 300 to 400 feet by a car that had stopped for gas, police said.
The incident occurred on Nov. 25 at 2:47 p.m., said Lt. Joseph Shannon.
"A four-door white vehicle of an unknown make pulled into the gas station to fill up with gas," Shannon said. "The attendant filled the tank with gas, after which the attendant was observed by witnesses being pulled into the car as he was going to collect money from the driver."
The vehicle's driver then began to drive away with the attendant either hanging onto the window or with him being held, police said.
"The vehicle proceeded onto Route 1, and the person was dragged anywhere from 300 to 400 feet," Shannon said. "At that point, he lost his grip and was thrown from the car, sustaining a severe head injury."
The driver of the suspect vehicle is described as a Hispanic male with a mustache in his middle 30s, police said.
"There was also a Hispanic male in the passenger seat of the vehicle," Shannon said. "They are wanted for robbery and aggravated assault."
The case is currently under investigation by the Edison police detective bureau. Anyone with information may call Detective Sean Forker at (732) 248-7400.
