Arts society names its Artist of the Season
The Edison Arts Society (EAS) is honoring Dorothy Obropta as its Winter 2007 Artist of the Season. A 35-year resident of Metuchen, Obropta is a community-service leader and an advocate of nature and the arts. The published author obtained a master of teaching degree in secondary-school science in 1969 from Villanova University, Villanova, Pa. Although retired from the Metuchen public school system, she is now a consultant for Rutgers Graduate School of Education at Rutgers University in New Brunswick. She also does volunteer work at JFK Medical Center, Edison, and is active in both the Metuchen Senior Commission and Friends of the Metuchen Public Library. Obropta attends all the Edison Symphony Orchestra concerts as well and assisted in August with EAS' first "Art in the Garden" tour.
