Prodigal Foundation plans annual scholarship dinner
Prodigal Foundation Inc. will hold its seventh annual scholarship dinner for high school seniors affected by cancer, at Colonia Country Club on April 26.
Prodigal Foundation reaches out to enhance the quality of life of children who have been adversely affected by cancer. Its missions and goals include establishing scholarships for high school seniors who have had their life adversely affected by cancer, to work closely with established hospitals and treatment centers in meeting their demands for particular equipment and materials that will benefit children with cancer, and to find ways to improve the quality of life for such children.
During the April 26 event, Distinguished Community Service Awards will be presented to Woodbridge Mayor John McCormac, J.J. Elek Realty owner James J. Elek and Middlesex County Freeholder Camille Fernicola, according to foundation President George Yuhasz.
This year's scholarship chairwoman is Linda Yuhasz.
"We are working closely with Mrs. Yuhasz to make this event as successful as ever," said Prodigal Foundation Vice President Lisa Podsiadlik. "Members of the business sector as well as local residents throughout Middlesex County have all extended themselves in helping our cause."
Woodbridge High School Principal Arthur Lee Warren, who is first vice president of the foundation, said that a constant goal met by the foundation is helping high school seniors who want to expand their educational potential.
"Principals, counselors, board of education members throughout the county have been included to reach the maximum students that have been affected by cancer," Warren said. "It is a work of complete love and compassion."
Since its conception, Prodigal Foundation has issued more than 100 scholarships to Middlesex County high school seniors affected by cancer in one shape, form or manner.
"We are proud of our efforts, and will continue to work hard in order to extend the dreams of such students," George Yuhasz said.
