EDISON - Police are looking for three black men who are believed to be involved with the armed bank robbery in Raritan Center on Friday.

According the Edison Police Sgt. Robert Dudash, two unidentified gunmen entered the Columbia Bank on Raritan Center Parkway at 12:23 on Friday afternoon and ordered the three bank employees and one customer on the premises onto the floor.

One of the suspects, described by witnesses as a tall, thin, dark-skinned black man, around 5 feet 11 inches, wearing a black ski mask and toting a shotgun, went behind the tellers' counter and took an undisclosed amount of cash from each teller window, Dudash said.

Dudash did not say what the second man was doing at the time but he too carried a handgun and was described as a heavyset black male, around 5 feet 10 inches, dressed in all black with short hair.

The two men exited the bank and entered a light blue Suburu WRX and fled the scene. The Suburu was later found to be stolen from the city of Elizabeth on July 4.

The Suburu turned up in the Hopelawn section of Woodbridge later that afternoon and an eyewitness observed the two men exit the Suburu and enter a silver or gray Lexus ES 300 with chrome wheels. The two men left in the Lexus driven by a third black male but police have yet to release any more information regarding the incident.

Dudash said that all three men are wanted in conjunction with the bank robbery, though the third man was not present at the scene. He said that no shots had been fired and no one was hurt. The Edison Detective Bureau and the Newark office of the FBI are investigating the robbery.
