Man hit by train along Inman Ave.
EDISON - An unidentified man was struck by a train and killed early morning last Wednesday.
According to Edison Police Sgt. Robert Dudash, at approximately 2:10 a.m. on July 12, a man clad in a bathrobe was seen on the tracks of the Norfolk Southern Rail line near Inman Avenue in Edison.
The conductor of the oncoming train observed the man walking back and forth over the tracks before settling down on the tracks, Dudash said.
Dudash said the conductor sounded the horn of the train and attempted to break but was unsuccessful at bringing the train to a halt before hitting the man.
The man remained unidentified as of Monday evening and Dudash said the Norfolk Southern Railroad Police were investigating the incident alongside the Edison Police Department.
