Man reports carjacking on Cutters Dock Rd.
Victim says suspect took $200; forced him to drive him around

WOODBRIDGE - Police are looking for a man in his 30s who allegedly carjacked, kidnapped and robbed a 21-year-old Carteret man on Cutters Dock Road last week.

The carjacking occurred at 8:30 p.m. July 26, police said.

The victim told police that he was driving from a friend's house in Perth Amboy when a black male wearing an oversized white T-shirt and dark jeans and brandishing a handgun stopped the victim on Cutters Dock Road.

The suspect, who was described as a clean-shaven, bald black male approximately 6 feet 5 inches tall with a heavy build, walked in front of the victim's vehicle as he was driving, causing the victim to stop, police said.

The suspect then entered the front passenger side of the vehicle, a white 2007 four-door Saturn Aura, pointed a black semiautomatic handgun at the victim and told him to "drive straight," police said.

The victim drove the suspect around for several minutes while the suspect gave him directions. The suspect then told him to stop on Randolph Avenue, which is near the Quick Chek. After they stopped, the suspect demanded the vehicle; however, the victim pleaded with the suspect not to take the vehicle because it was his mother's car, the police report said.

The suspect then told the victim to turn over his wallet instead, and took the victim's cellular phone from the center console. He then told the victim to drive again while he continued to give directions, police said.

After 45 minutes and several turns, the suspect finally exited the vehicle in the area of Wall Street in Rahway. Before leaving, the suspect tossed the victim's wallet and cellular phone onto the car seat. The suspect then walked away from the area and the victim drove home, the police report said.

Three credit cards and $200 in cash were taken from the victim's wallet, the police report said.
