Man robbed in stairwell of $65K in jewelry, cash
BY KATHY CHANG Staff Writer

METUCHEN - Police are looking for two white males who robbed a 51-year-old New Brunswick man of money and jewelry in the Bridge Pointe office complex on Route 27 last week, police said.

The incident occurred in the stairwell at 7:08 p.m. Sept. 6, police said.

The man told police that he was leaving his business on the second floor when he encountered two white males in their late 20s or early 30s in the stairwell, police said.

Suspect one was described as wearing a long-sleeved dress shirt and a New York Yankees baseball cap, and suspect two was described as wearing a long-sleeved gray dress shirt and black dress pants, and had short hair, police said.

The two suspects grabbed the victim and threw him down on the stairs and told the victim not to look at them and to be quiet, police said.

The suspects stole the victim's gold Rolex watch valued at $20,000, a Rolex bracelet with diamonds on it valued at $40,000, $4,500 in cash, and his driver's license, police said.

Then the victim told police that the two men heard someone walking, and they punched him in the face, causing his eyeglasses to break and leaving a cut under his left eye, police said.

The victim said he felt dizzy but did not lose consciousness, police said.

The victim also told police that he was missing his gray Razor cell phone valued at $200, but did not remember giving it to the suspects, police said.
