Edison hosts 15th annual Fall Family Spectacular

EDISON - Fried Oreos and Edison Idol, rock walls and inflatable moon bounces - and don't forget the zeppoles.

If you're a fan of family fun, these could have been a few of your favorite things.

For the 15th straight year, the township's Clara Barton section played host to the quintessential Edison street fair - the Fall Family Spectacular.

Held along Amboy Avenue on Friday, Sept. 7, and Saturday, Sept. 8, the fair attracted residents from all over the township to the four stages, countless vendors, and children's games and rides.

Sue Wales, a Clara Barton resident and mother of three, said the fair was a chance for the community to get together.

"You get to see people you wouldn't normally get to see," she said. "It's a community thing."

The fair boasted a musical lineup that included John Eddie, the VooDudes, and Sonny Geraci and the Outsiders.

The Edison High School cheerleaders and their Pop Warner counterparts performed before the wrestling show featuring former World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) wrestler Jimmy "Superfly" Snuka.

Edison Police Lt. Joe Shannon said the fair was running smoothly and that there had not been any serious incidents.
