Grace M. Wilczek

Mrs. Wilczek, 76, of Freehold Township, died Oct. 18, 2007, at The Manor Care Center, Freehold Township. Born in Perth Amboy, she had resided in Monroe before moving to Freehold Township four years ago. She was a member of the Hungarian Reformed Church, Woodbridge. Mrs. Wilczek was predeceased by her husband, Walter Wilczek, in 1966. Surviving are two daughters and a son-in-law, Sandra Amaral of Jackson and Lori and James Vittoritt of Shamong Township; a sister-in-law, Betty Vargo of Columbus, Ohio; and a granddaughter. Funeral services were held at Higgins Memorial Home, Freehold, followed by interment at Calvary Cemetery, Hopelawn section of Woodbridge. Joseph Battaglia

Mr. Battaglia, 94, of the Morganville section of Marlboro, died Oct. 15, 2007, at Columbia Presbyterian Hospital, New York City. He was born in Reggio di Calabria, Italy, and had lived in Brooklyn, N.Y., and then in Freehold before moving to Morganville. Prior to retiring in 1983, Mr. Battaglia was a painter in Roselle. He was a communicant of St. Thomas More Roman Catholic Church, Manalapan. He was predeceased by his wife, Esther, in 2002. Surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law, Fred and Gerri Battaglia of Edison, and John and Patricia Battaglia of Morganville; a daughter, Ann Marie Pipta of Manalapan; seven grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren, including Giavanna and Sophia of Freehold. A funeral liturgy was celebrated at St. Thomas More Church, followed by interment at St. Gabriel's Mausoleum, Marlboro. Freeman Manalapan- Marlboro Funeral Home, Manalapan, was in charge of arrangements. Harold Vorhees Ryno

Mr. Ryno, 94, of Freehold Township, died Oct. 12, 2007, at the Applewood Estates nursing center, Freehold Township. He was born in New Brunswick and had lived in Edison until 1980 before moving to Lavallette. He had been a resident of Applewood Estates since 1999. Prior to retiring in 1976, Mr. Ryno was a stereotyper for the Home News Tribune, New Brunswick, for 43 years. He served in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Patoka during World War II. Mr. Ryno was a member of St. James Episcopal Church, Edison, for 25 years, where he served in the vestry, as well as a former member of Faith Lutheran Church, Lavallette. He was also a member of the Graphic Communications International Union, Local No. 8, Lavallette; Disabled American Veterans Chapter No. 52 and Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post No. 3117, both of Edison; and American Legion Post No. 351, Seaside Heights. Surviving are his wife, Helen Ryno; a daughter, Joan R. Bauer of Manasquan; a son, H. Bruce Ryno of Belle Mead; five grandchildren, including Matthew Ryno of East Brunswick; and four great-grandchildren. Services were held at Higgins Memorial Home, Freehold, followed by private interment at Hillside Cemetery, Plainfield.
