Diamond earrings stolen in holdup
BY CHRIS GAETANO Staff Writer

EDISON - Five sets of diamond earrings with a value between $5,000 and $10,000 were stolen during a holdup at the Macy's in the Menlo Park Mall.

According to Sgt. Robert Dudash, public information officer with the Edison Police Department, the robbery took place Nov. 12 around 2:50 p.m. at the fine jewelry section in Macy's. Dudash described two suspects: a black male around 6 feet 3 inches tall, thin, in his late 20s, wearing a bright cap with black markings and a black jacket with an 8-ball on the sleeve; and a black male around 5 feet 10 inches tall, in his late 20s, wearing a black baseball cap and a black coat with the Mets logo on it.

The two men asked a clerk if they could see a set of five diamond earrings, and the clerk took them out for the men to see. After this, they spoke back and forth "talking to someone else about using the earrings," according to police. One of the suspects then pulled out a handgun and pointed it at the female clerk and demanded to be given the earrings or else he would shoot her.

The clerk behind the counter removed the earrings and handed them to the suspects, who then put the earrings into a bag and ran out of Macy's.
