Police looking for luring suspect

METUCHEN - Police are looking for a white man who attempted to lure a 12- year-old female into his vehicle as she was walking near the intersection of EssexAvenue and Prospect Street over the weekend.

The incident occurred at 5:30 p.m. on Jan. 26, police said.

The 12-year-old female told police that the suspect pulled up next to her in a navy blue new-model sport utility vehicle and asked her to get into his vehicle, police said.

When the young girl said no, the suspect drove off, police said.

The suspect was described as a white male in his 30s with brown hair and a brown goatee, the police report said.
