Pair robbed at gunpoint near Sunrise Drive

EDISON - Police are searching for two suspects in an armed robbery that took place Jan. 31 near 66 Sunrise Drive in Edison.

Two township residents, a 28-year-old male and a 30-year-old male, were standing outside building 66 in the apartment complex on Sunrise Drive smoking cigarettes when they were approached by two people. One was described as a mustachioed black man about 5 feet 9 inches tall, between 18 and 20 years of age, wearing a long, black jacket. The other was described as a Hispanic male between the ages of 18 and 20, also with a mustache, wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and dark jeans, standing about 6 feet tall.

The pair approached the victims, and one suspect asked the victims for a cigarette. One of the victims gave a cigarette to the suspect, and then the suspect in the long jacket pulled out a silver handgun and the one in the hooded sweatshirt pulled out a black handgun, according to police reports. Both suspects demanded all the money the victims had on them.About $70 was taken from one of the victims and about $80 was taken from the other.

The suspects then ran away and may have been seen getting into a dark-colored vehicle that may be a Volkswagon. The suspects are still at large.Anyone with information is encouraged to call Detective Sciarrillo of with the Edison Police Department at (732) 248-7561.

Neither of the two victims was injured during the incident.
