Edison launches Internet citizen service requests

Edison Township has launched an Internet-based citizen service request form. Residents can click on the "Make A Request" link on the EdisonNJ.org front page to communicate their needs or alert township personnel to a problem.

T

he Citizen Service Request, which is

powered by QScend Technologies Inc. of Waterbury, Conn., allows residents to alert the township of a problem by simply supplying their contact information and describing the problem. They may also choose how they would like to be contacted - e-mail or telephone. The request is then automatically forwarded to the appropriate department for action.

When people make a citizen service request, the Web site will create a paper trail that township staff can monitor. Department directors will be able to see if the department responded to the request or problem in timely manner.

While the new technology will make it more convenient for residents to contact a specific department, the information it captures will also play a vital role in helping the township develop its short- and long-term service improvement goals and therefore help in making budgetary decisions, according to township personnel.
