Middlesex name comes from Old English
Regarding Taj Ahmad's letter urging lawmakers to change the county's name to Middle County, it is an Old English term referring to the area in England populated by the Middle Saxons as opposed to the South Saxons (Sussex) or the East Saxons (Essex). If Middlesex has to change its name, then Sussex County would have to change to Sus County and Essex County to Es County. I assure Taj Ahmad that the "sex" in Middlesex is quite innocent.
