Muriel "Skippy" Rasmussen

Mrs. Rasmussen, of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., originally from Metuchen, died May 21, 2008. She was born Dec. 25, 1921, in West Haven, Conn. Mrs. Rasmussen was the first woman from Winchester, Conn., to enlist in the women's branch of the U.S. Navy during World War II. She was predeceased by her husband of 57 years, Arne H. Rasmussen, as well as her sister, Ruth Behrmann, and brother, Charles Eisensmith. Mrs. Rasmussen is survived by three sons and two daughters-in-law, Richard and Carol Rasmussen, William and Myra Rasmussen, and Robert Rasmussen; two grandchildren; one great-grandson; many neices and nephews; seven step-grandchildren and one step-greatgrandchild. A private memorial service will be conducted at Arlington National Cemetery in Washington, D.C.
