Police recover stolen motorcycle Edison police recovered a motorcycle that had been reported stolen almost a year ago. According to Sgt. Robert Dudash, police public information officer, on June 11, around 11 p.m., Sgt. Michael Cimmino, while on patrol on Route 1 north, spotted a motorcycle with its license plate bent, making reading it more difficult. Getting closer, he was able to run the plates through the database and found that the vehicle had been reported stolen in June 2007. Cimmino followed the bike, a blue 2004 Suzuki GSX, until both he and the rider stopped at a red light at the intersection of Route 1 and Ford Avenue. The officer positioned his car so that the rider wasn't able to move forward, and he removed Irvington resident William Ward, 35, from the motorcycle. Dudash said that Ward was taken into custody without incident. He was charged with receiving stolen property and also received three motor vehicle summonses. During this time, it was also found that he had several outstanding warrants for his arrest. Ward was sent to the Middlesex County Adult Correction Center in North Brunswick, with bail set at $10,000. The motorcycle, it was discovered, had been stolen from Newark on June 19, 2007. |
