School board's choice of date is 'insulting'
Once again Edison has created a controversy where none should have existed. Who in his/her right mind would schedule a crucial vote on one of the holiest days of the Jewish calendar? Doesn't anybody look or check if the date is appropriate and nonconflicting — to anyone? Apparently not!

Whether the state chose the date or the Board of Education chose the date, it is obvious neither bothered to see if there would be a conflict. Both are culpable of negligence and apathy. Shame on both of you! There is still time to correct this situation and change the date. If this is not done, the consequences will be far-reaching because common sense is not the only victim. The children of Edison will suffer because once again they will experience the defeat of a very necessary referendum that would improve the schools. The Edison community will lose its self-respect at making a poor choice of dates and insulting the Jewish community. Everyone loses when those in charge fail to do their jobs.

Please make the necessary changes and apologize to the Jewish populace for making such an egregious mistake.
