Resident: Mayor hasn't kept campaign promises
Edison taxpayers enjoy the recent creative writing skills by Mayor Jun Choi's supporters Michael Miller and $90,000 Communication Director Jerry Barca. While they try to paint a rosy picture of Edison's "Quality of Life" theme for the upcoming election, many residents are cowering from the recent spike in robberies and assaults, particularly in the north end of town. Headlines scream that Edison is safe for women; try to tell that to the women recently bound and robbed in their own home.

While Choi boasts a 10 percent reduction in township employees, we have yet to see the names of the employees he has cut. We read of hybrid cars given to his political hires to commute to work and only get 30 mpg in highway driving. The public should know that many of his cronies live in all corners of the state. The taxpayers of Edison pay for the cars, registration, insurance, fuel and tolls. An example of his knee-jerk reaction to the gas crisis can be seen in the Sunday car advertisements. One could buy a more efficient Chevrolet Cobalt for less than $9,000 but that would not have the misleading effect of being a friend to the environment that "hybrid" has.

When Choi ran for office three years ago, he talked about a better school system, yet contrary to New York magazine, there is no report of the violence and overcrowding plaguing our schools. Miller misquotes people such as Sal Pizzi and Dr. [Thomas] Paterniti, Democratic chairman, as being supporters of Choi. Both of these men have publicly condemned Choi's behavior and have apologized to township Democrats for supporting him in the past.

Choi is planning a RedevelopmentAgency that will cost Edison taxpayers more than $500,000. Wasteful use of limited tax money and bigger local government aren't what Choi promised.

He outfitted the municipal building with new furniture for more than a quarter of a million dollars and sold the replaced furniture for just $25. Under Mayor Spadoro, our township received millions in grant money without hiring a grant writer. It should also be noted that Choi did little to secure the $375,000 for the Edison Tower. That credit must go to Charlie Tomaro, who for years fought for every penny of that money.

The reality is that Choi has shown a disappointing departure of his campaign promises, his supporters have twisted the facts, spewing a distorted view of reality. He is an arrogant, disingenuous politician bred in the bowels of Trenton. We the taxpayers will seek real change in an election coming soon.
