Pair charged with breaking into Edison H.S.

Two teenagers were charged with breaking into Edison High School on June 26.

The teens, both 15, whose names were withheld due to their age, were apprehended close to the school on June 26 at approximately 10:15 p.m.

Officers responded to the school, 50 Boulevard of the Eagles, after receiving a call about an alarm at the school.

Upon arriving at the school, officers noticed a door to the school had been pried open. Once inside the building, a male was seen running through the gymnasium toward the cafeteria. The suspect was seen running out of the school and was soon apprehended about a block away on Preston Street.

The K-9 unit was brought in to search the school for the second suspect. At one point, the second suspect was seen on the second floor of the school and was later spotted running out of the building via a side door. Officers found him hiding at a location down the block from the school.

The pair was charged with burglary and resisting arrest and are currently being held at the Juvenile Detention Center in North Brunswick. Officers also found a bag with tools that were used to pry open an office door at the school, according to the police report.
